I hope you get a chance to look at the tips section on taking an IFR check ride before you go for your ride.

Mary Carpenter is a very fair DPE and if you do as well as your mock check ride with you CFII, you should pass with no problem.

Remember to get a good night sleep (easy for me to say), get there early and have all your charts setup in order before the flight. A good oral performance sets the stage for you to have the confidence to pass the flight portion, so study hard.

Good luck. The first time you get your wings wet solo is one of the best experiences you will ever have flying.

I have lived in Florida for the past eight years, but fondly remember the exact location you were standing with your son. I used to live in Michigan and fly out of PTK.
