By way of update, I got a very nice e-mail from the Peabodies acknowledging the board's lack of understanding of the medium and showing real concern about getting any changes to the rules right. In case anyone doubts, podcasts are welcome in Athens and the Peabodies will fully consider podcasts that are saubmitted.

I understand that changes to the rules are indeed forthcoming and I'm hopeful that the board uses some of the changes that I submitted. Frankly, other changes would be fine, too, as long as they capture the nature of podcasts and make it plain to podcast producers that their content is welcome.

99% of everything in the podsphere is crap. But there are pieces of the 1% that deserve the serious recognition that the Peabodies can give.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the Peabodies do with the guidelines!

Yes - you're spot on there. the category is for web/podcast yet the defining rules specifically preclude anything like a podcast. I really hope they listen and make the changes you've suggested.
